JoyceDeWitt began performing on stage at 13 years old. DeWitt earned her degree from Ball State University with a Bachelor's degree in Arts. Following that, while performing in summer stock when she met with the director, she convinced her to take part in UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt said she never met actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She was employed as a secretary during her time at UCLA. DeWitt is most well-known for her performance in Three's company's run from 1977 until 1984 as Janet Wood. This was the first job she had after she was cast in the second pilot. Janet was also featured in an episode of The Ropers in which she starred in during 1979. DeWitt was the only actor to appear in the show's 1984 finale. She was then featured in an episode of Finder of Lost Lovers in 1984. After that, she stopped acting for several years. The actress returned to acting in a part in a production of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. One of her roles was in the 1995 TV comedy film Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain aired in 1997 and featured characters based on her. The voice actor was another actress. She was in the episode Cybill. [6] Some of her television appearances in the 2000s included Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as and Call of the Wild.
